Marc Márquez was born on 17 February 1993 in Cervera, which is the capital of the comarca of Segarra, in the province of Lleida, the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Spain. His father, Julià Márquez, worked as volunteers members of a local racing club known as Moto Club Serge. 125cc World Championship

  • On 13 April 2008, he made his championship debut at the 125cc 2008 Portuguese Grand Prix at 15.
  • He became the youngest Spanish rider to take a Grand Prix motorcycle racing podium on 22 June 2008.
  • At 16 years, he became the youngest Spanish rider to take pole position at the French Grand Prix.
  • On 6 June 2010, he had his first win of the 2010 Italian motorcycle Grand Prix at Mugello. He also won the next three races, making him the youngest rider to win four successive races.
